Got my mum a Z200 and she's loving it, loves the ringtones and after sitting down with her for maybe an hour or less she had most things in hand. it has IR if you want to easily transfer your contacts so that all they have to do is pick them out of the phone book.
Simple to use phone, no camera, no bt, covers so they can personalise but yeah, great parent phone. Clam shell so the screen is protected too.

I totally agree with @sevastos here, the Nokia 6100 is just one of the best choice! There is also this Samsung small color-red fone (just forgot the model), just almost 'half' of that of the Nokia 6100, a flip-type at that, that will just be nice for Mommy as well
