I finally got bored of my (P800) smartphone and have got a new Motorola clamshell, the E550. The motorola O/S is very nice and makes the P800 look so outdated, P800 functionality aside. The E550 still syncs with Outlook etc., and the only personal loss is not being able to play TwinFruits. "A Change is as good as a rest" and all that...

UIQ is a software layer that sits ontop of the
symbian operating system and provides the user interface and applications.
While many phones use the symbian operating systems only a small portion use the UIQ interface

Basically it boils down to user preference. I'll choose the P series over the V800 anytime, simply because I like the ability of installing new apps onto the phone, in which UIQ can.

With the V800, only limited Java apps can be installed into the phone.

To just echo the voices before mine, it really depends on what you are looking for in a phone or handheld device. I have people coming up to me constantly and saying "you don't need Excel on a phone" - but I do, maybe they don't, it's a matter of preference. Having said that, and because I don't have 3G in my country, I will take (and have already done so) the P9xx!

if ur into business.. hands on applications like a PDA... etc etc.. go for the P. If u juz wants a phone with a better media.. go for the V. Even theres no 3G in your country doesnt mean.. the V is useless.. the phone itself it really impressive.. as for me.. the P is a great phone.. but i'll be usin only 50% of the usage.. coz not into all that PDA stuff... so its up to you...
