I think some people are missing a sense of materiality! I occasionally have individual calls from my P9 that cost more than $100 - if you do too, can you really complain about an extra $5 for a useful software tool?

@Aled, fair comments about books, music, etc. but I am happy to pay for my own pleasure!!

@hippo

You raise fair points but your last post illustrates that you probably have more disposable than the average person!

@all

I know it's clicheed but the software is worth what the end users are willing to pay for it. Simple as. Those developers who invent "crappy" little apps (Turn On The Light being quite a pertinent example, although they did give it away for free for a bit) that are an obvious rip-off will simply not sell them, and will not make the same money they should have were they priced more in line with what the market find acceptable.

Equally, personally, I am more than happy to pay for those applications that I consider worthwhile, though I feel that the extent of my moral obligation is not to seek cracked/copied software - if I want to donate for freeware, that's my prerogative, but I wouldn't call anyone that solely uses freeware a freeloader!

I quite agree with dave. I wont violate anyone's rights by going for cracked/copied apps either. Never. I take freeware if I find it. I may even use trial apps & ditch them after if I dont consider them worth the price tag. Developers & service providers (read 3G networks) need to understand that the market only exists if the price is acceptable to end-users. This message was posted from a P800

I freeload, meaning I will try to get all my phone software free. There is a wealth of quality free software, sman, escumm, edoom, lemmings, goboy, opera. not to mention the excellent built in software. The only app I have bought is soldier ants, I bought this for 2 reasons. 1) its a great game, (2) the programmer ( Tom Cooper aka floss) is an active member of this forum and actually listens to the programs users and makes suggested changes he thinks will enhance the game! amazing support well worth paying for! If this practice was wider spread I would buy more software, until then I will take what ever is free...

I'm a P800 owner, and no, haven't paid a cent for anything but my phone's OS (came with phone, obviously). But yes, i'd buy software if it was absolutely necessary. Like that worms game floss made. I'll prolly buy that when i get some cash together....
