If you are a gamer first and foremost, then even I wouldn't recommend you buy a Mac. Macs are great for many things, and its not that they're no good at all for games, its just that there's a lot less of them, you have to wait alot longer for them to come out, and you can't buy them in many High Street shops.
Apart from games though, I'd recommend a Mac!

1gb ddr2 533mhz * 2
Ati radeon x850xt (or if u have a large budget,nvidia will launch nforce for intel with sli soon,so 2 6800s in sli

)
intel azalia audio can do the job,its really good
dvd writer.........
2 * 120gb in raid (which raid is your choice)
amd
athlon64 4000+ (or fx55 ,if u have big budget

)
if u want sli , asus a8n sli deluxe or a a8v deluxe
1gb ddr 400 * 2
ati x850xt (or 2 6800 s in sli ,as above)
dvd writer.........
2 * 120gb in raid (which raid is your choice)
