Exactly the same as on an
phone. You use the # key to put a space between words
Another MAJOR issue is related to its mp3 playback...apparently it doesnt support 99% of the mp3 available on wap for free download so is pretty limited there.
Easy enough to make your own and transfer them to the phone via the UNLOCKED bluetooth or infra red.
Also i dont think samsung has expandable t9.
It certainly does have it.
It seems samsung's best yet tho coz finally it has functional bluetooth, irda and nice java implementation.
An actual positive comment there
Compared to the s700 its nothin really but can be a decent upgrade from the k700 tho
Its a more that decent upgrade to the K700. Pic quality between the S700 and D500 are about equal. S700 does have a few more options but not many more. Also the D500 has the option to change between different camera types (Megapixel, VGA, QVGA etc). S700 does not
i wouldnt advise it coz it doesnt make sense to have a phone with mp cam but fixed memory...
Very lame excuse IMO
also you'll find samsung's software support is very limited.
Nothing new there then
Also does it have themes? Dont think so.
It has options for skins and animated wallpapers. Mix the 2 together and guess what !!! You have a theme

For example, its hard to add words to T9, the autosorting of candidate words, the ability to scroll through candidates.
Pretty easy to do actually
Difficult to simply save a number in a text message.
See above comment
Lack of decent manual controls on the cam (this is where the S700 REALLY rocks)..
If you mean accessing things like frames, brightness, function shortcuts while in cam mode etc then the above comment is also wrong. Accessing the features via the shortcuts or the manual menu system is easy
Again I'm going to have to ask if anybody who has commented negitively on the D500 has actually used one. Not just for a couple of seconds. But for a week, month, 2 months ?
More info on the D500 can be found in
this thread started by axxxr Suggest some people have a little read.

@Rookwise
You have raised some valid points but have managed to get one thing slightly wrong.
You say that the S700 cant change picture size (vga etc..) but it can. You can select 1280x960 (megapixel), 640x480 (vga), 320x240 or 160x120.

The S700i use CCD and the D500 use C-MOS
It's sure that the S700i make a better picture than the D500.

@jcwhite uk. Can't find the option on my s700 that enables it to change camera types. Can change the picture size. @draak. I'm aware of the different sensor types in these phones. Doesnt make that much difference though.

D500 is a great phone - no doubt about that - I really like it - but I have one slight disagreement with you:
Skins and animated wallpaper make a theme you say - not quite as there are no skineditor available. S//E offer a themeeditor and you can find thousands of great themes or create your own to personalize your phone. I dont see any such posibility for the D500 - do correct me if Im wrong. This lack of themeediting on most phones besides S//E phones may be a small issue for some - but for me its a big let down.

D500 is a waste of money. after less then 2months every old SE users gets bored of the phone.
samsung isn't really special. and they don't provide good connectivity.
S700 looks bulky. but your really get used to the size. just try it for a week, you'll see i'm right.

@bart. You have way too many biased views. Your too much of a die hard

fanboy imo. Your opinion is that a phone by any other manufacturer does not compare to an

handset. If you compared the D500 to the T68i or T610 you would most probably say that the T68i/T610 is a better buy just because they are

habdsets. That alone makes your comments unreliable and very one sided. Have you actually used these phones for longer than 30 seconds. Have you constantly used these phones since their first day of release or maybe earlier ? I have.
Comparisons:
Photo taken with each phone (S700 and D500) of my pc monitor in low light conditions without night mode but with flash/light turned on. Both phones were held in the same position and distance away from the monitor. Spot photomatry was activated on both phones.
S700
D500
As you can clearly see. The D500 takes a much wider and softer shot. Also the picture is a lot more colourful. The pic in my sig box is also taken with a D500 straight from a tv screen while watching an Iron Maiden dvd.
