This is ridiculous! How can SE overlook such a simple function? Even low end phones have alarms which can be heard in the silent mode?

On the other hand, if i am at a funeral and switch my phone to silent, i want it to be silent, no matter what.

Easiest way to switch to flight mode in p800 is just press the power button once..

and the vibrator thing dont work if ur phone is on charge and mine is constantly on charge at night cause i use it all day so battery is flat

Install magic profiles pro (must-have app), and set a schedule where the phone turns itself on silent at night (for me it's at 01.30), and back to normal five minutes before my alarm goes off. Hey presto!

Came across this last night, looked very good ! There's a free trial version on the site also !

Alternatively could the p900 use a .jar file ? maybe a little alarm program ?

Use magic profiles pro!

You can schedule profile changes to take place at particular times. eg...

I have set this for weekends. The phone will automatically go into silent mode about 2am on a weekend night, then switch back to "normal" at 10am where I would be happier to be woken up by the phone.

So for your example, you would schedule the app to switch the phone to silent every evening at midnight or whatever, then have it switch back to normal, automatically an hour or so before you have scheduled the alarm to go off.

That should work shouldnt it?

Argh! What a hassle! I'm not going to bother programming my profiles to change. Some day I'll program a little app myself instead which does what I want.
But as for now, tomorrow I'm buying an old fashioned alarm clock instead.

Or to put it another way:
"There's something I want to do, and there is a relatively simple way to do it. But I can't be bothered doing it, so instead I'll do something much more complicated to accomplish the same thing."

Mr Spock would no doubt find this very illogical.

Completely agree Qwerty! I dont think a more simple and easy to implement solution could be available! What a lazy bug*er! Plus on top of that, something like Magic Profiles Pro is useful in many different situations, not just night times! Total norbert.
