I know that the T68 has several different locks, and the although a phone may have the SP unlocked, it does not enable you to change the WAP settings. Which lock must be removed to change the WAP settings? Is it the network/network subset locks?

cellxprt, some expert you are when you got pop3 email problems, hehe, just joshn ya=pulling your leg. I live in Canada and I cant help you out 100%, however since AT&T Wireless has a close marketing, communications with Rogers here in Canada, lets try this out.
1st is the WAP profile on your account?? Next is your WAP gateway APN "goam.com" or "goamerica.com"?? If so then try a new setting in Profiles rename it Internet, then no IP, then try "internet.com" as the APN then, try internetuser1 as login, and internet as password. now if you already have the settings from AT&T then on the SMTP try using AT&T's SMTP not your private email SMTP.
Flip, what on earth are you talking about that the WAP settings in your T68i are locked?? Follow my last post in this thread and try it out, remember to save your settings. Oh yeah use your Wireless providers info instead of the ones I placed here!

thanks for pulling my leg prom1. and about the cellxprt, i dare anyone to walk into my store and me or my staff not sell you something. anyway back to the topic at hand, i don't have those settings on my t68i. i have the following:
connect using: aws wap
protocol: imap4
incoming server: imap.attwireless.net
incoming port: 143(preset)
Mailbox:
myname@mobile.att.net
Password: *******
outgoing server: smtp.attwireless.net
outgoing port: 25(preset)
email address:
myname@mobile.att.net
that is what i read off the threads about settings. is it supposed to be set to pop3 for mmode mail? also can you use AOL mail as an email setting and what are the settings? thanks for the help guys.

I actually don't have the phone yet. I plan on purchasing one and then getting it unlocked. The reason I asked the question is because I have heard from many places on the internet that it is possible for the WAP settings profiles to be locked, therefore unable to be changed, even if the sp lock is removed. This may be incorrect as I don't have the phone myself, but I have heard it numerous places.

Prom1, I have an Ericsson T39m phone and a Casio BE300 connected with a Socket DPN phone card. I am brand new to this. I wonder if there's any way to connect the PDA without using Portage Plus. I had subscibed to the data access plan to try these out. I called Rogers technical support, the guy there is quite helpful. He do give me information like user name, password as mentioned in a few post back.
He also mentioned a number to dial, which is **99***#
I still couldn't get it to work. Your expert opion is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Cellxprt, I learned 2 things 2day, 1st is dont mess with an American in the WildWildWest, hehe, and the 2nd is that SE phones can be WAP locked separately form SP lock, bummer!
Wish I could help you out further. M-Mode and settings from AT&T that you posted have got me a little lost. Are you registering your email settings for AT&T while browsing M-mode on your phone? Do access your email through browsing M-mode? I would recommend using
www.myrealbox.com for direct email (pop3 & IMAP) access to your phone without browsing but again your phone is locked. Thus, since you know a few ppl --your store i mean--get a friend whos been loyal to AT&T to get your IMEI unlocked at no cost(put the IMEI on their account first when calling cx service or network support group), but you didnt hear this from me, hehe. Best of luck in getting your phone unlocked.
ROT, I'm no expert but I'll try at my opinion to the best of my knowledge. The settings the rep at Rogers gave you for your dialup string (from the Casio) is correct, usually. If I'm correct your account with Rogers should be fortified with MyMobile homepage for WAP surfing, but for HTML you NEED PortagePlus. Sucks I know, but first off you nee software that can read HTML from your Socket Card, and also does it support GPRS? GPRS is recommended, as dialup is incredibly slow and nerve boggling. Options: 1st off go to
www.brighthand.com website on your computer and register. PM-private message "pixelator", who is an online friend and very knowledgeable in PDA's, connectors and surfing. Hes used several Casio devices and is a programmer (gamming) and could help you out! However he lives in the states, but he'll help you out better than I can as my knowledge is prior to when Rogers supported PDA's or even launched Portage Plus. Also does your Casio ask for port #?? port 9203 & 8582 for Rogers AT*T for WAP.Get GSM Team to send you a text msg when they trouble shoot next time, also before they do make sure your text msging is set for GPRS not GSM--this will make sure that your GPRS is enabled.

Thanks for your advice prom1, I used to be a frequent visitor at brighthand before they kill the BE300 forum for no apparent reason. I'll try there again.
Thanks again.
