Yeh.... spoke to Orange and they suggested that I drop into one of their stores to upgrade the firmware.
If I got this done at an SE service centre, might they not unbrand the phone similtaneously ?

Probably not unless you specifically ask them to debrand it. I know that when my T610 went to the service centre for a firmware upgrade (it had stopped working altogether!) it came back with the orange branding still on it.
If you got your phone from CPW then you might be able to get them to flash it with generic firmware under warranty. Failing that they might debrand it for you for a fee.

original purchase was CPW but this is an upgrade so might try a SE service centre instead.

I had a problem other day with the phone telling me I had a missed call but when I went into that menu it wasnt there, because I had deleted it earlier. The call was a withheld number. I turned the phone off then on again and it had disappeared!! Also mine turns itself off then on occasionally. My last one did this and it was replaced. This is the third "Orange" P910i I've had each with various software issues!! I asked about "debranding" it, at CPW and they said they could do it but it would invalidate the warranty!

The only way I've found to delete these (and now also the missed call alerts) is to delete them of the relative page then turn the phone on and off.
A workaround is to just use the Storage Wizard (under Applications) -- specifically Step 3.
This gets rid of all your texts in one operation -- except bizarrely / ironically the 'Voicemail Waiting' ones which are the cause of all this kerfuffle!

Think to be honest there is a problem with branded P910is. Getting fed up with having to take them back, turn it off/on, and generally messing about with them. I've had three so far and the problems with each seem to be pretty much the same. Whats point of taking them back or getting them sent away if they all have the problem? I'm just annoyed that the product wasnt fully sorted before it was launched, either by Orange or SE. Is it me or are phones getting more "buggy" than they used to be?
