according to bluetooth SIG, its sometihing thats built in to the reciever part of the hardware.
so yes, someone should be able to write code to do it, theoretically...

Fair play, see your point, would give you a chance to move back to the pc if you're about to lose signal. Must admit I wander round the house with my bt headset and all of a sudden i lose connection. Might be useful!

but yes, its possbile. not finacially worth it though, the cost to do it is probably more than the money they'd make out of it...
