AFAIK, almost all Semicon and SE service centers can upgrade your firmware. Free if you're unit is under their warranty, but about P500 if it's not.

@monica24 - Well, honestly, you must really scrutinize the fone before buying girl ! I've been into buying 2nd hand fones for almost 2 years (and running) now, out of around 25 changes, I only manage to get a defective (Nokia 8250-restarts) one - only ONCE ! Yup, make the firmware upgrade, Semicon is offering one too at Php 500.00. Also, as much as possible, ask for a week or two to have your 2nd hand fone totally replaced when it has a defect, as that is . . . and ALWAYS my deal then when buying 2nd hand units up till now . . . Good Luck !

by the way, its my first time to buy a second hand unit. well i didnt totally regret for buying it since its just so adorable and it looks like brand new and works fine still 'cept for that "turned off mode after i cancel a call that's about to get connected"..i guess the owner was a foreigner coz there were undeleted email msgs that's out of this world language lolzzz (or so i think).
the plastic cover of the screen isnt changed yet even...

anyway, thanks again and i'll have my fon checked the soonest (i'll have money lollzzz)

hi again peeps,
i went to SE shop last night to have it upgraded...but 'twas so risky coz first, they dont have a software for my unit (since it is an 02-european version, that is).

i said what am i gonna do with my unit with the oldest firmware and keeps on "hanging" , auto on and off and batt that doesnt last long?

they said it'll be very risky to upgrade it coz they are gonna do it online and the unit might get corrupted while on the process...yet, if that doesnt work daw..they'll have to resort to "customization" (flush all system of my fon and install a new one)...pero its not a 100% guarantee na maayos parin daw....i was sooo despondent and i was hoping there was an "esato" bro there..sigh...

then, thanks to a certain "Anna" (customer care representative)...she gave me options on my phone's chances......anyway, i took the chances....and have it tried upgraded (online...coz they are gonna download the software for my O2 pa). ...surprisingly, wala pang two hours...naupgrade nila ung fon ko!!! from the oldest firmware to R2L0001 na....weeeeebeeeee!!!!!!

haaay thank god talaga walang naging problema at thanks to u guys for enlightening me over these matters....angels ko talaga kayo lolzzzzz!

for the meantime, i wouldnt know kung pwede ako mag access ng gprs at mms kasi baka daw naka set ang frequency sa O2 na settings...meaning, they won't give me an access to our internet settings here...i will try to input steele's internet setting later and see what'll happen.....still, pls guide me here (any input/ideas/suggestions for my access to the internet/gprs/mms)that)....pretty pls?

For the internet/MMS settings, you can either go to your network provider's website and request for it there. The settings will be sent to you as an SMS message, just accept and install it. Another option is to go to your network provider's office customer service and ask them to put the settings for you. Last option is to copy the settings from another person with the same network provider as you.

Congratulations on your phone and the successful upgrade.
