It does look like it will be tough finding a high-end non-camera phone in the future. Most new non-cams are strictly low-end. The 9300 is one of the very few exceptions. This message was posted from a WAP device

The idea manufacturers are having is it's so cheap and easy to include a camera on a phone that they go for it to help cover as much of the market with that model as they possible can.

just get a k700 and spray paint over the camera lens. then, if you quit or get fired, you can remove the paint and your phone's good as new and your not stuck with a second rate nokia.

Its quite cheap to include a vga camera in a phone and till now manufacturers have been doing that to increase the market appeal of the product and obviously to attract a wider audience. Now however with mobile camera standards crossing the megapixel mark( and se seriously upping the benchmark with 2 2mp cam-phones n s700 etc ) there will be an incresed scrutiny of the viability of phone-cam as an alternative to a starting range digicam and consequently cameras will constitute a major part of the phone actual price, in such a situation it will be a wise move by the manufactures to roll out high end phones without cams for people who are really not bothered and imho that is gona happen but it'll still take some time as at present manufacturers are busy luring consumers with the "mp count" of their phones and well its working too till now. Once we have a considerably large section who due to job specifications or whatever reasons do not want camera phones, the manufactures will ultimately pay heed to the cause and start rolling out high end models without cameras...as for now the choices are really very very limited.

Even if the employer checks all phones on entry, security guards won't be willing to take your word for it that the camera is broken (if I was a guard I'd be suspicious; that's their job). They would have a flat rule against any phone with a camera lense.

They will ban Camera phones whether they work or not would be my guess.
