that's the irony

the BB software that they jointly released with SE here is dated last year, probably some beta release that has limited capabilities and deemed stable enough. I am guessing that this version probably has tested to work well with R2A16, thus the downgrade.

Here's some new info... trying to get P910a working with bb connect in US via tmobile. Loaded down bb connect software from tmobile.de site. Connected OK briefly, then got the same symptom reported by others, namely gets to "apn connected" and then drops.

After 30 minutes on hold, RIM support told me that the problem was that I'm using version 2.25.30 of bb connect software (true) and that I will need to upgrade to at least 2.27.10 for it to work. Went back to tmobile.de site to find that there is now NO software to download. Have deduced that somebody at tmobile jumped the gun, and then pulled it back. Bad news: no P910 blackberry for now. Good news: it appears it is truly in the works, question is when it will be available. If anyone has found link to download 2.27.10, PLEASE POST!

Why do you need Blackberry on your P910? P9xx all have full support for e-mail right out of the box. I set up e-mail on my P900 as soon as I bought it over 18 months ago and has used e-mail on it ever since. No need to waste time and money on Blackberry!

Well for the short time that I was able to test and run the BB this is what I was able to achieve and that the imbedded software couldn't provide.

Push Email (Corporate Server) - My email comes to my phone the same moment it arrives to my PC's email inbox. There was no loss in delay in that.

Push Email (Webclient) - I was able to add about 5 POP3 (ie yahoo, gmail, iname, etc..) email account to the BWC and have everything pushed to one email that was provided by the BWC setup.

The major difference I noticed was the delivery notice. I would get a little envelop icon + customizable audible notification to new incoming email. Prior to doing this I litterally had to create separate email accounts under "internet accounts" for each of my existing accounts. To make matters more difficult I would have to go into each account and request the data from the server by first having to connect to my GPRS connection then downloading the entire email. Now figure that some of these email addresses get about 20 emails PER DAY. I have a grand total of 6 email addresses that I would constantly poll each day several hours throughout the day. Do the math and imagine the in-efficiency in having to manually poll these independent email accounts and download tons of data including the possible spam I would find on occasion. It would take several minutes at a time just do download email from one account. Those without unlimited GPRS accounts would be screwed if they were in my case. With the BB software all my email from all accounts came in one swoop. I was not bogging down any drive space because the email was still technically on the server, but all the information was viewable/accessible. This sofware did everything my Outlook and Notes desktop program does on my PCs and laptops. With the caveat that I didn't have to download the email to the device first. The integrated solutions in the phones do not offer that solution. It's simply NOT efficient and potentially a costly solution for most.

What are the costs/charges associated with BlackBerry service with T-Mobile?

I have T-mobile service with the $20/mo unlimited GPRS data account. My company has a Blackberry server, but they've configured all of their accounts through AT&T wireless.

Will I have to either A) Switch my phone service to AT&T, or B) pay extra to T-Mobile to support the Blackberry Connect push software?

The reason I ask is that I need the unlimited internet from T-Mobile, but my firm won't pay for Blackberry accounts through anyone but AT&T/Cingular and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay extra just for the "privilege" of being connected to the office 24/7.

Only from T-Mobile in the UK. Orange should have it available before the summer.
