Yes. S700i is practically a K700i in a swivel case with expandable memory, larger screen and a 1.3MP camera. Other than that, I believe everthing else is the same. Oh, yeah the price is much higher too.

1. Battery is acceptable, no reason not to buy
2. yes as long as memory permits
3. Excellent call quality
4. Extraordinary reception.
3+4: With my K700 I am able to make and recieve calls in places where other phones (on the same network) have given up. For 3&4 this k700 is really exceptionally good. If that is important for you this phone is a good buy.
Recording requires a few joystick-clicks and there's a beep.

I bought my K700i last November, FW vR2L001. These past few weeks, I noticed that the battery has actually gained stamina. With "normal" usage (just calls and SMS), it gives 72 hrs easily, without turning the unit off.
The reception is excellent, even better than the Nokia 7250i's, which was my former benchmark.
Calls can be recorded. The files are saved in .amr format and are given the names of the respective contacts. These can be transferred to PC and converted to other audio file types.
I've recently downloaded iTunes to my PC and am currently enjoying near-CD quality music on the K700i using MP4 files. Over an hour of music with plenty of space left.

good points when compared to other SE phones-
-better reception and call quality
bad point when compared to other SE phones-
-poor battery(depends on how you use the phone)
-lack of memory card
-squeaky sound from battery cover(really annoying)
-worst of all, be prepared to have sore ears from the sharp edges when placed on the ear...
overall, it's worth 80% the money, u wont regret
