Actually the p800 derived from a Ericsson prototype they promoted but never released .. and Ericsson T68 that later became SE T68 was the base for everything else to come. The first 5(?) SE phones was really 100% Ericsson phones with SE logo ..
All todays SE phones are developed by "Ericsson Mobile Platforms" that is a 100% Ericsson owned company.
The phones them selves are done by "Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB".
I don't mind if people say Ericsson k500, or Sony k500 .. it's a matter of where u live and got raised .. but when it comes to stores + sites like Esato there should _never_ be SE phones in Ericsson section or SE phones be refered as Ericsson or Sony phones!
It's just like with the Hitachi Deskstar HDDs ... Hitachi bought the whole HDD part from IBM .. and just put Hitachi logo on new HDDs. People still refer to Hitachi HDDs as IBM and I don't find it that annoying..
Yes the right thing is to say Sony Ericsson k500i, but hey it's just a matter of speech, if you want to say the whole sentence "Sony Ericsson", just the two letters "SE" or use the part u was used to for the past years "Sony" or "Ericsson".

As for the P800, my observation tells me otherwise. It has a Sony jogdial, uses a Sony memory stick and feels like a Sony.
Anyways I am an Ericsson fan and always will be.

People are missing my point! Okay, Ericsson's technology was fantastic, but have you seen their old adverts? Boxes? Pricing? Marketing strategies? Terrible!
They needed someone with finances and expertees in the areas of design and marketing.
What good is technology without the means to implement it!

I'm talking about the Ericsson Symbian communicator from the Tomb Rider movie that was never released. The phone was 100% real and fully working, Ericsson spent _a lot_ of money promoting it and on application delevopment but they pulled the plug for some reason.
Do not forget Sony was in to palm os until yesterday, not symbian.

Sony have the marketing + multimedia part that Ericsson lacked off.

When it's a two-word name u usually either pick one of the words or use a short term as SE. Nothing to get annoyed over.
