Thanks Gbrooks! I've just found and been reading thru another very long thread all about this topic ("P900 - P910 possible! AMAZING news!" - in which you happen to feature quite extensively). It has answered all questions that I have, and I'll definately be pushing the boat out this thursday!

where do you get this specialised P910i firmware upgrade done?
- Can you download a file and do it on the cradle?
Will it work if phone is locked to provider? (Orange in my case!)

So you're telling me that the upgrade even improved battery time!?!? Go into Sman, and do a system flush (so that it only shows Sman itself, and any hidden apps if you happen to have them shown) and tell me what percentage of RAM the phone has free... My p900 has 44% on average, my p800 had 50% (which was a lot less than 44% of the p900's, but meh).
I am suddenly very interested....

yes it improves battery life dramatically
here nick, percentage of free RAM in sman with all tasks flushed = 34%
hmm 10% less than P900, ...so what does this mean nick? are you gonna upgrade?

And you didn't notice a speed difference? Do you ever get "out of memory" message? And by how much did it affect the battery life?
I'll get the upgrade when I have enough to buy a larger memory stick

. Which may be on my B-day...
BTW how much does it cost to have the upgrade done at Aboveconnection or whatever?
