Like nuke, it can seem a bit complicated at first but you soon get the hang of it. It supports all of the usual payment gateways like paypal, worldpay etc. natively but if you want to use a merchant account, it requires a little bit of hacking.
I'm hacking one at the minute for my companies' latest venture

Nice! PHPBB (the same forums that Esato uses) are supported natively in php-nuke.
Oh and PHP-Nuke isn't confusing really, there are just 2 things to remember:
Blocks = Those things on the front page
Modules = Areas of the site.
I got the 2 confused, and that was the only trouble I had. At all.
