now you tell me, how does an equation like that relate to real life...they try to teach us this crap in high school and it will be of no use to us later on in life...

That's just pointless. Ignoring the fact that I studied astrophysics and reguarly dealt with equations that ran to several sides of A4 paper, it is hardly a 'boredom killer'.

Mathematics has very practical applications in everyday life e.g. a builder erecting a support strut for example would have to use an equation to calculate the angle to place the strut at.
