I generally will need to download just headers (and see the whole subject line), delete all the spam, then download the real messages.

About the battery. If you completelly drain it, you still have a backup battery. With the screen off, it will last for about 30 minutes (you cannot turn on the phone) if the backup battery also drains, the ram will get cleared and you loose everything in ram memory. (make regular backups I would say)
edit: this is how most phones work including the P910i. If I remove the battery of my T105 and I wait for a few days and I replace battery, I lost the settings as if it is back in factory devault.

And also, can screen crack easily if kept in pocket all the time on ipaq.
