I had a reply from TomTom about TomTom Mobile on the p910i:

At this time there are no immediate plans to release mobile 5 on your device.

Which is sad. I guess, as somebody posted earlier, they are still not ready to release it yet.

It is ready. Date is unknown. When I have info, I will bring it directly.

Well, there you are then. It seems you can do both with a Pee: look at the instructions on screen, or listen to them through the wired headset. You just can't do both at the same time (unless you don't mind driving with your head wired to the dashboard, that is).

I could live with that, if I had a desperate need for GPS. For what it costs, I'm still very happy with a printout of an internet map stuck on the dash...

When you say wired headset what does that mean? I still would like to know if the instructions will come out of the speakers from my handsfree car kit?

wired headset is either the single earpiece/mic that plugs in the bottom of the phone next to the charger or the stereo earpiece/mic that comes in the box with the phone that plugs in under the little round rubber cover with the headset logo on it just above the scroll wheel. they both connect to the phone by 'wires' as opposed to wireless/bluetooth.

Well that is not going to be very helpful, how can you drive around with some wire you are going to have to plug in everytime you get in or out of the car.
It still does not answer the question of wether the instructions will come through my cars handsfree speaker kit or not? Because as someone pointed out the phones inbuilt speaker is blocked off when it sits in the car cradle and is not loud enough to hear at driving speeds.

It is loud enough but when you drive with your window open it's gone!

If you have a cassette function in your radio you could use an adaptor (~£7, IIRC) such as used to be used for CD players in the old days - We use one in our Land Rover for the portable DVD to get the sound through the vehicle speaker system...

I have run my P905 playing MP3s through the same kit (not bad sound at all actually ) - you will need a 2.5 OD male to 3.5 ID female adaptor (stereo one from maplins only 99 pence) to connect in.

Any reason this wouldn't work with routefinding software?

Cheers
