Because
Arc isn't a phone that holds 2011/this year's standards, isn't specifically a high-end phone and only a follow up/update of X10?
Well, it is not like I disagree with you. As much as I want a 16 megapixel & 1080P and proper specs, I think it is unlikely to happen tomorrow.
I mean, the Arc's preorder price was 460 GBP, which is ridiculously high if you ask me. So, if they made a 16 megapixel phone, how much would they charge for it? If it is not much higher than the Arc, then getting the Arc would be a bad choice.
I think the Arc has to be significantly cheaper if Sony Ericsson is going to make the super phone that everybody is dreaming about. And even if it won't exist, the Arc has to be cheaper anyway. But that's another issue.
Man, this super phone will always be a dream or only exists in Japan, hardware wise (S006).

trust me Arc will be priced very similar to other dual-core and high-end phones from other manufacturers, this is the reason why i know the Arc wont save
this year.

I didn't think it was going to be cheap, but don't you think 460 GBP (about 737 USD) is just... waaaaay too expensive? Sure, sometimes, proucts are more expensive in the UK and this is a preorder price. However, I don't think the initial price should exceed 550 USD.

tell me how much was the nexus s priced when it was released? bare in mind this WAS a high-end device at its release. you think a mid-end phone like the Arc justifies £460??? that is a HIGH-END price tag. the LG Optimus 2X will be priced at around that figure.

from play.com: Arc = £450
Optimus 2X = £470

im guessing US will see it at around $500 - $600 anyway. does'nt really matter the price in the UK, it has no correlation with US prices unfortunately. UK get shafted hard on tech prices.
