says its a WHITE w950i

It says "White boxed" so I think it means it comes in a plane box! It also states the condition is Refurbished Stay away from them!!

Hi all,
My understanding of white boxed units is as it says they are refurbished units. These have been returned for various reasons but are not allowed to be sold as new some may of been faulty some just the user did not like but they will of been fully checked and reset to factory settings by a SE approved engineer but they don't really seem that much cheaper than brand new but there shouldn't be anything wrong with them.

I've spent the last few weeks debating whether I want this or the w850i. I almost settled on the W950i, but a few issues have arisen:

1) How long does it take to transfer 1gb/2gb etc of files? Is it the same speed as transferring to a USB pen, for example?

2) I was happy to see that the screen seems to be the same size and quality as the Creative Zen Vision M, but do large files play without problem, and is it going to kill the battery?

3) The biggest problem for me is battery issues - I would be a reasonably heavy user of the walkman function, and ideally via bluetooth headphones as well - perhaps an hour and a half/ two hours a day. Will I need to recharge everyday? The thought of being stuck on the tube during rush hour with no music is a disturbing one.

Muchas gracias,

Paul

Hmm i use my phone for about an hour or 2 hours of music, though with the supplied headset not a BT one, a day and speak for an hour each night, i recharge about every 2 or so days. for me it's no problem just to leave my phone plugged in while i shower or before i goto bed. i don't believe you'll have a problem.

as for transfer, i've transferred the max amount in a very quick time, i dunno how it might compare with a 4gb memory stick but so far i'm impressed with it.

Unbelievable!

I can't believe they are giving this away as a free upgrade. Do you have a high monthly tariff?

Hi goldenface !

I was surprised because the lady asked if I used all of my free minutes and texts and then suggested to reduce my tariff !

It was about 40 pounds per month and is now about 30 pounds!

Also got a free pay and go sim and 3 months insurance...

I'm on Vodafone Anytime 75 (£20pm) and was offered the W950 for £80 on upgrade for a new 18 month contract a fortnight ago. I might have been able to knock it down a little, but in the end I preferred the M600i (for the keyboard and Quickoffice) and got that for £25 instead, on a much more palatable 12 month contract.

I hate the way they're trying to make 18 months the default btw - you have to really push them to get it down to 12, and if you don't ask they just assume you're happy with 18. That's way too long to be saddled with the same phone and contract!
