A US construction company with close links to the White House has been awarded a huge contract to re-build Iraq.
The initial £23million deal won by Bechtel could rise to £450 million over 18months.
the company gave the republicans £1 million between 1999 and 2002.
Chief Executive Riley Bechtel was recently appointed by George Bush to the exclusive Presidents Export Council.

Nyk. Whats your point? You have effectively shown that you can cut and paste material, 99% which has been taken out of context and has not been presented in its entirety. It is obvious that you got that garbage from some anti American web site. Are you not capable of forming your own opinions without having to use another persons inaccurate info? So far you haven't presented any concrete evidence of anything, only speculations, assumptions, and unsubstantiated information. Son, don't believe everything you read. You obviously dont understand US Politics. Stop saying shit that America war monger. You middle folks have been fighting since the beginning of time over the same old shit, religion and land. You should talk.

As for ur understanding of US politics... Well Y dont U read ur previous posts, Ive had enough of ridiculing ur stupid, baseless arguments

I am the one that asked for a link between the Bush administration and corporations awarded contracts in Iraq because nyk claimed that people in the administration had been on the boards of these corporations.
Now nyk claims that Bechtel corporation was awarded their contract because they donated money to the Republican party at the last election. Well, if you follow US politics you would know that all US corporations donate money during election times. Most corporations donate to the Republican party because they usually benefit from conservative politics such as lower taxes. Some corporations make political contributions to both parties because it is a tax write-off. There is nothing illegal about political contributions as long as they are within limits and goes to the party and not single persons. I am almost certain that all corporations that bid for the Iraqi contracts have contributed to the Republican party.
nyk> it is scary to hear you say that you get your info from another forum and then you say that you have 'raw 100% correct facts'. It is hard for me to believe that the forum you cut and paste your posts from are 'raw 100% facts'. I would advice you to get your info from primary sources.

Ur telling me that all the above invasions/involvments in countries problems is the US's duty ? Becoz its a superpower?
I agree if the countries ask the US ok..
But many countries that are listed above did not....
@nyk_2702
Actually many of the most recent military actions were at either the request of that country or at the request of the UN. What you seem to have left out in many (not all) of those situations is the reason why the US went in. For instance Somalia the UN and US went in because warlords were tearing that country apart. The aid that was being sent was not getting to the people so, the UN and US were trying to make sure the aid got to the people and they were trying to help establish order in a country filled with anarchy. In the other examples you post were the US military occupied Caribbean countries were similar, and economic crisis started unrest that turned in anarchy. If we were the big bad US that you claim we are then we would still occupy those countries. But as you can see we don’t. Imagine the outrage the world would have shown if the US turned a blind eye to these countries. You mentioned also mentioned Yugoslavia, we went in to stop the ethnic cleansing, not to assist in it.
I would hate to imagine what the world would be without the US. Whole areas of the world would be engulfed in war or famine, because who would be strong enough to stop it? The UN?
Many people in this form have also compared the US to Empires of old or the former USSR in strength. But how many of those former empires or superpowers assisted the word in their time? None... they were all concerned with their own empire. So if the US is truly an empire, then be happy we are concerned enough to assist countries that cant even feed, and protect their own people.
Just want to say it again, nyk_2702 although I don’t agree with your views I still appreciate them.

@ scubba_steve
Ur post did show that the US is not all bad..
I hav never sed that the US is all bad and no good...
However, wat about
PHILIPPINES, 1898-1910
PUERTO RICO, 1898
NICARAGUA, 1912-33
CUBA, 1917-33
RUSSIA, 1917-22
PUERTO RICO, 1950
IRAN, 1953
GUATEMALA, 1954
LEBANON, 1956
VIETNAM, 1960-75
LEBANON, 1982-4
HONDURAS, 1983-9
GRENADA, 1983
LIBYA, 1986
IRAN, 1987
PANAMA, 1989-90
SUDAN, 1998
IRAQ, 1998
AFGHANISTAN, 2001
Now if U looked at the above, and then onto the list of good things the US has done, Wat wud Ur opinions be?
Now i mite hav missd a few arguable cases, and ther mayB points on the list above that ppl dont agree with..
However, its clear to C that the US isnt a gr8 superpower.
If we wer to say how wud the world B without the US, u cud say that ther wudnt B any WMD.. It was the Americans that made the first Atom Bomb.. The Russians developed it only as a self-defense against the US..
Israel wud not hav existed, thus meaning no Mid-East conflict as many Islamic Fundamentalists wud hav no grounds to base ther radical views..
Although the such things as ethnic cleansing and civil wars are SOMETHINGS the US has helped with...
Im in NO WAY anti-US.. I'd like to visit the states, go NYC, LA
But i am against power-mongering politicians who's first priority is to ensure that the US remains the only super-power, and to remain unchallenged in this, so as to ensure global supremacy...
I just like to view Both sides of the story, After whcih I make my opinions...
At least wit ppl like scubba_steve & amagab, who r able to present sensible arguments, respect other peoples views, and dont go rambling and shouting to get attention...
Cheers
