I have been saying this for weeks now. If you look back in the thread, you will see the responses from SE where they know that it is a much more serious problem. Software has nothing to do with this issue.

Explain how a firmware fix would remedy the hard rebooting that the phone does please. The only thing I can think of is that if, and only if the phone can sense a reboot coming on, it might be told to abort this, but this still would require some sort of hardware sensor to detect the condition of the phone.

If the sequence of events can be determined that causes the reboot, then the firmware can be altered to avoid the sequence of events without changing the correct functionality. For example, if the crash is caused by a timeout (possibly caused by an unexpected delay from hardware), then the firmware could be changed to ignore the timeout and carry on.
I'm not saying this is the reason, I am only offering a possible scenario. The crash is reproducible, so hopefully that means engineers can probe the device in a lab environment and see exactly what is causing the crash (and hopefully find a solution.)

Have you read the entire thread? SE in Finland, Germany, and the UK, as far as I have spoken to them do not indicate a software problem. The problem can easily be duplicated by placing the phone on, near, in the area of something metal or electronic and the phone will reboot. Not every phone does this, as was documented by SE.
Hell, I would love it if it was a f/w issue, but I truly think that SE will have to offer a new phone, i.e. the s750i because it would be too costly to replace every phone. Not to mention the bad press.

I have read the posts. There is an identified process to cause the reboot (which looks like it is related to hardware issues.) All I am saying is that there may be a possible firmware fix for a hardware problem. It is quite common for software workarounds for the shortcomings of hardware.
It is even possible that the firmware is executing some code to tell it to reboot because of some unforseen, unexpected behaviour of the hardware. If the engineers can then identify the behaviour of the hardware then they can modify the firmware accordingly.

Very true, very nice post. Examples of this would be the antenna problems when upgrading a T630 from R6C005 to R7A011 - SEMC have now released a gdf file to repair this. Another, the edited P910 firmware bluetooth interaction problems. I know they are different things, but hardware can be affected adversley by firmware. Lets check if SEMC have released any such file

Well, just got word from the SE service reps in Oslo, Norway.
After 3 weeks without my phone, they've reset, reloaded and recharged the phone (sent from my local rep, to central who in turn sent iut externally, maybe to SE ???)
Ill post once more when i receive the phone.
I'm not very optimistic it'll last very long...

Just asked a few people and R3M should solve rebooting issue - if not maybe an SFA file will be released to fix similar to AMR fix for the K700i.
