Have you tried it the other way around - e.g. if your phone wants to update to R1L then rename the R1N firmware files to match those of R1L? It would be interesting to see what would happen!

well my update failed i.e communication error meg appeared abt 8-9 times i tried. then i remembered to have read somewhere that someone managed to update to r1n035 by holding down the c - key for the whole process so i tried it n it worked my phone just updated to r1n035 finally.

i tried the update serivice....phone is now completely dead...wont even turn back on after taking out the battery and putting it back in. What do I do???? please help

infos about firmware are right but i cant switch to my italian language..just english!!

I'm from Italy too, if you need the R1N035 files to overwrite yours just say it. My phone still works correctly after the firmware update, the only bug I have is that when I copy some files from my PC, by the USB cable, and I disconnect the phone most of the files just disappear form the memory stick (any solution?).

Hi, I'm from Singapore and just want to ask if it's safe to update to R1N035 through the internet now or has anyone from Singapore manage to update successfully through the SE website? I've just called up SE and they say that R1N035 is available at their service centre but they can't backups my data, that's why I want to update by myself through the internet. Help!!!

I suggest you to wait unless you find the issues reported by other people around do not mean anything to you. Otherwise, if your phone has been working fine, I suggest you to wait in my opinion.

If you backup your files and send your phone off to SE service center for flashing they will assume responsability for the phone but not any loss of data....
This is why they wont back up your phone....
You could always wait like advised by gummcgay if your not having issues...

So, anybody tried this and success? I have tried to get my phone updated for 9 times. Everytime, it will pops up a "error in communication with device". I would try this once I got home..but, just want to know how many people have really done this.
