> O2 release date for P990 now 16th Oct (
Bookmark topic
Was told the 6th Nov again this morning so I'll probably wait until then before calling again now . . . The lady I spoke to also said that it would probably be best to wait until the 7th to call to allow the phones to get into the supply chain, but I think I'll call on the 6th just to be sure

I rang today to confirm the date against my name on the HRM system and it has moved from 3 November to 17 November. I have now requested my PAC number which will be with me within 3-4 days.
Be prepared to be disappointed.
Good luck

But surely it is in O2's interest not to release a buggy phone.
I can only guess all the crap Orange and Voda have had to put up with.
Well done O2 - At least they know it is not in a sellable position yet, and that is ultimately a benefit to their customers!

If they are actually waiting for SE to update the firmware before they release the phone then wouldn't it be a good idea if they actually told people that?? At the moment they are being made to look like idiots with different people giving out different release dates. If in the beginning they'd said that 'We are waiting until the phone is stable and will release it then, our PROJECTED release date is blah' I think we'd all be happier . . . or of course they could let those of us who want the phone and are capable of performing the upgrades ourself buy it anyway, informed and with our eyes open

the new date of 6 november seems to me no different from the all the other release dates.... that came and went... who knows anything for sure?, i got fed up of waiting so i bought a m600 from ebay (great phone) at least to be going on with.. i'll still get the p990 when available, on upgrade with o2 as i like the free weekend/monday tarriff wher you can make calls all day without eating into your bundle allowance, CFW dont offer this farriff.
it will be interesting to see if the p990 finally comes with new firmware or whether we land up with the same problems others have had, if so we've waited for nothing...

@kradcliffe - Fair enough O2 are looking to release a more stable device than the one released by Vodafone and Orange. But to echo jodrell O2 could say the phone has been delayed indefinitely due to software issues and we will release it once those have been remedied or that SE cannot supply us sufficient stock to launch the phone or whatever and give a more realistic launch date.
If in September they had said it will be out at the end of October, another couple of weeks delay wouldn't matter but they know they are on the verge of losing a good amount of customers so have fobbed us off with dates that move 1 week at a time. Apparently there is a firmware update due Week 46/47 (6/13 Nov) so this all coincides to me.
I am disappointed, but maybe it is for the best. Now the XDA Zinc is looking like real option as it will be 2 months away from the launch of the P990i and apparently pack some serious punch.

I just rang, they've said 6 Nov to me too. What kinda deals are everyone getting? The phone they said they cant price yet. Not my kinda phone I sold the voda one, but the w950 is expected in next year! Especially with all their testing. Also, the n73 ME is not on their lists (yet).
