hi mates!!
whats ur reaction to today's downward revision in the rates of prepaid- telenor package:
Call rate: Rs 3.45 per min
SMS: Rs 1
How does it compare with other networks providers?
Yesterday i went to mobile fair held in Islamabad organized by mobilink and was shocked to know that it was not free, the charges were:
Adults: Rs 20
Children: Rs 10 (including infants!!)
It was pathetic by mobilink as usual, they dont believe in any goodwill gestures to their customers either!!!
I think they must have made more money form the tickets than they spent on the organization of the event. Poor stuff once again from a selfish company

@SE7: The 1 rupee sms is to all networks?
And talking aboutt he mobile phone fair. I was watching it on TV. The girl was interviewing people. At the end she asked what do you think of mobilink. The guy replied: "Its my favourite, connectivity all the time, satisfation all the time."
And I changed the channel.

This decrease in call rates is like joke with users. Sms rate is although acceptable because the reduction is 50 percent in it. But still a long way to go to compete with the warid call and sms rates . Regards. Umer

@radarblip609, this SMS rate is flat, i.e. applicable to all domestic SMS sent.
Telenor is a huge success, and their innovative features like life time free package, easyload etc are all very useful. They are growing like a plant just like their CEO described earlier in an interview!
Few days back, someone wrote in the letter to editor of daily DAWN that when he tested 30 seconds billing system of warid, it was to his gr8 surprise was not working, after trying to contact the helpline and others (in which he couldnot succeed) he throw his SIM in drain. this is what he wrote in his letter.
Right now the biggest problem with warid is their signal problem, and to their surprise despite having most economical packages (on the face), they have not had any luck in selling their connections like Telenor did in mid March!!
@umerhayat, the SMS rate reduction is 33.33% not 50% by telenor, but i think that it compares well with warid coz they offer Rs 0.50 for only on-net i.e. from warid to warid only and on other networks, the rate applicable is Rs 1. Lets see if they intend to reduce the tariff of post paid package also, and whether any new packages will be announced soon or not.

Regarding radarblip609's query regarding internet browsing on Mobilink I share my views.
I have an i-mate pda2k with pocket internet explorer and netfront 3.1 installed.
When browsing directly from my phone I get speeds upto 23 kbs(kilo bits per second which is around 2.9 kilo bytes per second). However this is the peak but the average is not more than 18 kbs.
For comparision I have also used Telenor which gives me peaks of around 35 kbs and average of 30 kbs.
Finally my experience with Warid is that this is the fastest. At times with Warid I have been able to peak at even as high as 50 kbs but the average is nowhere less than 40 kbs.
I have no experience of ufone.
While browsing through my i-mate directly I have checked these speeds through a special software which I have installed on my pocket pc. As for speeds that I get while browsing on my PC connected to my i-mate via bluetooth dial up connection I have used the McAfee Internet Speed Checking Site.
I hope my remarks will be useful and will generate some useful discussion
Regards to all and live in good health

srmz, you gave your experience of mobilink on your pocket PC. Thanx for that, it sure was usefull. But what you wrote about browsing through Mobilink on desktop PC wasnt much clear. That is what exactly I am looking for.
