You can change your tariff after 9 months of an 18 month contract with CPW.

Spoke to a chap called Nigel in retention who went to his local store in Widnes yesterday and had a play with the handset. He said the P990i is making it's way to stores over the next week for the official launch on Monday 13 November but depending on some of the stores, they may give you the handset early. The Widnes store was willing to. Not sure whether or not to believe him but spoke to some of the West London stores this morning and they have said they are expecting the handset anytime between this Wednesday and next (8/11/06 - 15/11/06).
One store said he had been given a date and allocation for the very first time and the date on his sheet was to receive stock by Friday this week. It is near apparently. Also O2 online sales apparently can sell it on pay-as-you-go but do not have a price so cannot sell it, but the stores have it now. Who knows what's going on!!!

Rang O2 yesterday (I'm a select customer) and apparently it has been released.... go figure. However, I can't get it before the 18th so it's all kinda academic for me right up till that day. I will ring soon though to check whether they'll actually have it when the 18th comes. If they don't I'll be paying for my 3 months line rental that I'm due and walking into CPW or whoever wants to sell me the phone.
Keep the news coming guys... it might actually finally show up!!?!?!
(and pigs might fly!)

Got my P990 Yesterday. I updated the software to the latest version and so far so good.
I have noticed that Sandisk cards crash the phone. I have tried 2 from different shops and the p990 crashes, tried the sony one and it didnt crash.
So got a 2gb Card for £26
Got Phone on a £35 contract from 12 months 400 mins and 100 sms on 02. Phone cost me £39.99. (phone is unbranded and sim free) Phone isnt from 02.
Really happy bunny, Oh and i got a Universal car kit thrown in too.
People I can tell you O2 shops last week had confirmation that O2 Technical had approved of the handset from SE as everything was now working ok. The phone will be sent to the stores over the next week.

@darrengf - what should the first line of the above read? And where did you get the phone?

Just been told by retentions at O2 that its been put back to the 13th
Hopefully this is the last time its been put back as I am getting seriously fecked off.
My Exec is bust and I need a new phone and I don't want another blummin exec.
Wish they did the Fujitsu Siemens LOOX T830 as that looks like some phone but sadly no...my options are an Exec or a Nokia E61 if the Nokia has a camera I'd have probably given up and got that.
Oh hello...been following this thread for a few weeks now

Rang O2 online retention at 12noon today and they obviously said it's not in stock yet but no mention of a further delay. Just the usual "its the week commencing the 6th so ring back later in the week". I would go to Orange but I txt and call a reasonable amount so O2 really only offer a bit of both. Orange seem to give rediculous amounts of inclusive minutes at the expense of txt messages and vice versa so O2's online 200 18month is my best bet: 300mins and 750txts. Its the only reason I'm hanging around - still quoted £49.99 upgrade price though.

Orange have Orange fied the phone.
You are not able to change menus, go into control panel and change things. The phone is horrible and crashes all the time.
I got my phone from onestopphoneshop and as i have purchased a few phones from them i got a special deal.
Regarding the memory card. From ebay.
There are loads on there for about this price.
But mine was from a local shop to where i live.
Oh and i must have been giddy when typing the update but i have amended the post now.
I have confirmed the o2 are still on for getting the phone this week.
If i find any more out i will let youn know.

@darrengf - you seem pretty confident that O2 have approved the P990i and that it is running ok now. How do you know this? O2 CS still have no idea, though a store that I deal with has confirmed they are expecting stock within the next 8 days or so. What else can you tell us? Does video calling & 3G access work ok with your handset? Please test and advise.
Many thanks
