hmmmm
would consider it if it had full range of memory cards support and WI-FI -
is it dual layer too?
ps i think similar models are around £1400 in the high street as i saw today
maybe i want too much but at that price methinks we all SHOULD get too much

Well i din't pay the £1800

I got it cheaper direct from the factory, plus claimed the VAT back through my dad's business and i'm not allowed to say what i really payed so just guess
Also try the sony factory outet occasionally they have amazing deals

the online outlet isnt working although last week I called and was offered a deal on the vaio that doesnt seem to be on the site now but was £1799 offered at £1500 (second top business model b4 the new "beast" came on).
ok for anyone in the know i have whittled down what i need (oops what I WANT lol)- wont need half the stuff but hey its a one off purchase and im astounded by technology (even if i dont know how to work it I always have the folk at Estato)
Minimum
centrino 1.6ghz processor
DDR2
60gb hard drive
128mb dedicated graphics
512 ram
dual layer
integrated 6 memory card reader support
WI-FI
integrated bluetooth
no heavier than 2.95kg
Optional
widescreen / truebrite etc
integrated tv tuner
and i have increased my budget to a reasonable-(whatever it takes)

hey mate, if thats the spec you want you can easily get all that for within £1300 but what the top end of your budget anyway, although i'll search for better spec at a cheaper price of course.
I always get myself the best value for money

if i could increase certain things such as
processor speed to m750 (must be intel)
and ram to 1024
graphics to 256
reduce weight
on what were my MINIMUM requirements I could go to about £1700
ps i hope you wont be ofended and i am sure you will not suggest the like probably but i would want to purchase reputably even if it meant paying "SLIGHTLY" more
OTHER than that if u can get all my MINIMUM for £1300 it sounds promising
and thanks for all the help-i appreciate it

You mean what i said above about claiming VAT back etc. That is fully reputable as i have the official extended 3yr sony warrenty as well as 15days money back if not satisfied, more than online btw
But yes your minimum is simple to get for £1300 or less easily though.
What screen size you looking for also? A small 13" like mine, a massive 17" monster (too heavy though) or the average 15" (i think so)

no no sorry I didnt mean the remark about the vat or indeed anything YOU said I was just pre-empting any suggestion of back street traders lol
neway yes 17" would make it TOO heavy otherwise the newest QOSMIO range seems to have everything bar light weight but if you CAN find a 17" light weight then way to go
