After managing to place my order for the W800 yesterday with O2 Online and getting 2 confirmation emails I got another email this morning telling me the order had been dispatched and should be delivered tomorrow.
I won't believe it until I've got it though.
I think persistence is the key with these guys, they definitely have the phone in stock but don't want to use it for upgrades at the moment, just for new customers.

So close, my w800 was actually on the van today but in another startling display of incompetence DHL manage to not find my house- despite delivering my last phone to the same address with no hassle. Tomorrow then...

for anyone wanting the W800 but not able to get it, i am about to get mine in about 1 hour but id prefer the K750 so if anyone has a K750 and is interested in swapping or if any of you guys who are waiting for the W800 want to get that and then just swap with me then let me know asap or my W800 will be going on eBay

hmm, o2's site says it's gone to the couriers now; but i still have no form of email and my gm number is still coming up as 'cannot be found' when i search on dhl.
but presumably this means it is actually in stock, just dhl/o2 being slow.
time will tell!
