unfortunately I cannot download i-tunes as got windows ME & I dont believe it supports it. Again I am not sure how to convert my cd's to mp3 - totally new to this. Have tried to install my pc suite form SE but poota crashes.
Any suggestions please?

i think it can be done with sound forge 6, but have never done it myself.

I might be wrong, but I believe the question the originator of this thread asked, was how to convert and export existing audio files from windows media player to his mobile phone, and not from CD's to pc.
iTunes will not convert existing audio files on the computer.
The most useful response to this question has to be the windows media player 10 option.
Like I said, I may be wrong.

I compared the quality of mp3 and aac.
It's about the same : same size (aac a little bit bigger than mp3), same quality.

I converted an mp3 to m4a using dbpoweramp.
m4a, mp4 codec Release 3.5
FAAC v1.24.1
Quality 90 (VBR)

And I used Faad (AAC decoder) v2.1 Beta in wimamp to decode.

I think it's better to convert your audio files to mp3.
