I'll post a more in depth reply later tonight about the virtues of different frame materials, it's not as simple as you think. (honest)
There are a few options about thats are slightly cheaper for you.
PS Cervelo Soloist Carbon is £2500 for the frame LOL

yeah govigov...
LEGS!!!
they were made for riding...
@ floatlite, yeah went to Primera in Bournemouth and they said about 3 cervelo frames, a soloist (alumininum £1000) soloist carbon £2500 and a R3 or something that was like £1800 but the chainstay were too skinny for the abuse i give bikes.
i didnt think choosing a bike was that easy, dude at my bike shop told me that carbon would be fine if i was going to change it in 2 years time but i wont be, its taken me 6 and a bit years to get my dale as i like it... and enver having been on a road bike for lenghthy rides i think i could take a while to set it up.. carbom is great for weight and stiffness, but he said the longevity of it isnt as good as say ti or al, now im not going against what you have said, but Clive the bike shop dude. is no stranger to bikes, sold me my dale F2000sl, my Norco 4Hun (telling me it would be indestructiable) and so far ive yet to break a single thing on it...
im going in next week for a bike fitting with a machine from
www.bikefitting.com so will see what they say, as he reckons i may not be suitable for a proper race machine... so time will tell.

ive picked up/looked at a litespeed road bike, and they are made well.
honestly i think Ti is what you should get, a good ti frame will probably outlive its rider....

Titanium is a grossly misused material in bicycle frames, and is an expensive and inefficient use of material.
My eduacated advice, don't waste your cash on one.

but what to go for then?
Al is too old news and too heavy and carbon wont stand up to what i want to do, so its either, steel, scandium or ti.

they make excellent frames across the board, DH XC FR BMX and a road frame called the Argon. its made from the most expensive ally tubing money can buy. easton tubing.
Fatreg, have a read about the company, i'm yet to find anything bad about them.
