Thanks, I still make quite a few calls on my P990i, so I'll probably go with one of the Flext and Walk tariffs, at about £30/month. Should be a massive saving on my current Vodafone Anytime 200 tariff, which rarely comes in at less than £100/month.

@masseur - Thanks for the info.

For anyone else who is interested, T-Mobile have an offer at the moment with £5 off the monthly line rental for all Flext tariffs, including those with Web'n'Walk - excellent value and I think I will be going for it!

Its absolutely brilliant. 3g speeds most times, even when on hols in France using 2g was still quick.

The only gripe with t-mobile I have is that you cannot buy a handset only. You have to get another contract to get the phone. Unless anyone has any other ideas.

if you don't want a contract then simply buy any sim free phnoe from anywhere and then get a sim only deal from t-mobile like I did

I am confused - how can you have a SIM only deal that is not on contract when you said you are paying 17.50 a month for it? I've just come off the phone with T-Mobile and the guy I spoke to knew nothing about any SIM only deals. He said the best I could do is get a deal with a free phone, put the SIM in my own SIM-free phone, and use their supplied phone 'as a spare'. I was thinking along similar lines, but getting a K800i and Ebay-ing it to pay for a more 'suitable' phone

well I have two of them

7.50/month for the sim only with 50 mins calling time + £10/month web'n' walk

you have to get through to t-mobile "internet sales" department if calling (not an easy task and I still don't have a direct number for them usually having to go around the houses) as they are the only ones who offer the sim only

or you can look here and purchase online

I found the SIM-only deal on the T-Mo website (at http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dis[....]weboffers_personal_sim_only_pm ). It's a kind of hybrid deal, isn't it - it is a contract, but there is no minimum term and you only need to give 30 days notice to terminate. Can't see any way to add Web'n'Walk to it via the web site though, I guess that has to be done over the phone.

Also, I am confused by you saying that W'n'W is £10 a month - thought it was £7.50?

I dont think you understood my post.

I changed nearly 2 months ago from 02 to T-Mobile to get the webnwalk. I had to move from 02 as my contract was expiring and couldnt be continued. So I had to get a Vario. Naturally I wanted a Vario 2, but it wasnt released. T-Mobile have told me they cannot sell me a Vario 2 or any Mda handset without taking out another contract. I dont want another contract or number. 02 allowed me to buy a handset mid term many times. I asked TM what if I broke handset , how would I get another one. They said I would have to pay for the insurance. I said that seemed illegal to force insurance that way. I then asked what if my handset broke and was outside of the warranty terms. Again no solution. I emailed a friend of mine in TM. He said I would have to either get a new contract or buy an HTC tytn. But TM wont support a non badged version. TM also told me I could get a sim free Vario 2 from the Link or Carphonewarehouse. This is not possible. I even asked TM if I could buy a Mda Pro and still no was the answer. I have since sent an email complaint and am waiting for a reply.

So whilst the data tariff etc TM appear not to have any flexibilty or common sense to allow you to obtain any Mda handset.
I will let you know outcome.

I think I have the answer this...

examining my first bill, I notice that it says web'n'walk professional and I have read in some places that you can only get this with the PCMCIA card for your laptop, but I have also read that you can pay an extra £2.50 to upgrade standard web'n'walk to professional

my guess is that by default the internet sales have given me the higher package meaning I can legitimately use my phone as a modem from my laptop

I'll check all this on Monday but this is my best guess looking at my statement

I just bought k800i from local t-mobile store.
Flex-t 20 - £20pm
WnW - £7.50pm
Discount - £5pm
Insurance - £5.99pm
Total - £28.49pm

I was told so long as I stay within 1gig a month i won't have any probs.
up untill couple months ago I was using 250mb (not sure) and paying around £50 a month plus insurance.
Compared to before I think I got a sweet deal.
Oh yeah and the £34 worth of usage ont eh flext for god knows what because I'll use it as backup phone anyways.

I gotta say that i prefer the way vodafone customised the k800i as oppose to everyone else. My dad who is rubbish at using phones looks for the red and green buttons instinctively. And I've found that it's something I quite like to.
