you guys posted against p990 are the unluckiest guys in mobile world. you don't deserve it that's why it went out of your expectations. one day you'll find yourselves wanting it again.

I had a P800, it broke and insurance sent me a treo 650. I grew to like the Dpad, keybroad and nicer screen.

But on deciding my next phone: P990 or treo 700, my dont-care-about-phone gf made a point I didn't realize:

during the limited time she uses my phone (ie. outgoing calls/ look up stuff while i drive), she said she at least knew what to push for my P800. On the treo 650 after a year, she still doesn't know what is what.

IMO the A2DP sound quality (with my DS970) on the TyTN compared to the P990i is like listening to FM radio vs CD. I would actually say it is so bad that it is not worth bothering with.
In addition the TyTN cannot handle doing anything else whilst streaming over A2DP. If you tweak the A2DP sound quality via the registry to get it close to (IMO) being acceptable it would stutter every tens seconds or so.

what registry tweaks did you do? there are some that can make it sound way better where you choose the frequency as default frequency is low, I agree it does stutter on the media player when multi tasking, media player is crap use a third party mp3 player, I've tried a few and some are excellent.

Used the tweak included in the fit4ct hermes tweaker app in addition to playing around manually with the following:

From xda-developers.com
Quote:
Improve BT A2DP sound quality
[HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Bluetooth/A2DP/Settings]
Add new dword, Value name=BitPool; Value data=48 (Decimal)
Modify, Value name=UseJointStereo; Value data=0 (Decimal, Originally 1)

For BitPool:
Microsoft suggests the following bitpool values for optimal buffer sizes.
30 - Low audio quality
40 - Medium audio quality
48 - High audio quality
58 - Excellent audio quality
Chose one you like. I think 48 is good enough.

For UseJointStereo: use 0 instead of 1, then you got the real stereo.

No matter what settings I used I could never get it to a quality I was really happy with that didn't stutter. I think the TyTN is just not cut out (in terms of hardware and software) to really support A2DP well. Must admit I hadn't tried a third party player though, although I'm not sure this would compensate entirely for the obvious deficiencies.
I think with the P990i the hardware acceleration of the Nexperia processor probably has a large part to play in its great A2DP abilities.

I am so tired waiting for the p990 I'm about to give up at the finish line. I am thinking about getting the TyTN instead just beacuse I'm pissed for not having my p990 yet. Only thing bothering me is this statement. I have already bought my ds970. Is it still this bad? Maybe some firmware update or something have fixed this issue?

No longer a TyTN owner I'm afraid, so I can't comment, although I don't believe there has been a firmware update to correct things.
Fundamentally though I think the problem lies deep in the OS itself - with Symbian the kernel working in conjunction with the hardware DSP handles the all radio (ie GSM, UTMS and BT) functions, whereas on WM based devices the BT stack is software based sitting on top of the main OS kernel.
Essentially this means there is a higher processing overhead on WM devices when using A2DP than on Symbian based devices which may explain the poor A2DP performance.
Personally I felt even on the (unusable) highest quality setting the TyTN's sound quality was still not as good as the P990i

As for waiting a little longer to get your P990i - well my view is you've come this far wanting the device, so a few days or weeks longer will make little difference IMO.
