mib1800 is right, N91 is better than the walkman phones in sound quality.

Yeah but it sucks at everything else. It is part of the crap N series (N70, N71, N76, N81, N90, N91) not the good N series (N73, N80, N82, N93(i), N95)

N80 a good N Series

That phone was buggy as hell

When these beauts were our ONLY options i'll bet that their owners were more concerned about which kind of rucksack was more appropriate for lugging these handsets around, lol

Nokia Mobira CityMan 900 (+- 0.800 kg, price tag THEN about 4500 Euro)

Sony MarsBar

i'm certain that once the bugs in these classics were straightened out, their owners must've been very proud of them

I would have thought the 5700 should have made an impact in the music sector, but it hasn't.So all hope for expressmusic is lost for now.Nokia certainly has the potential to surpass the walkman...And i think its possible for ipods to make phones now.

5700 wasnt suppose to make any impact because quite frankly its a horrible phone. The upcoming N81 and 82 will be the real deal.
Anything non N series symbian, dont expect it to be a best seller.

Only if you are able accept N91 size. I considered buying this phone before buying k800 but when i had it in my hands it was much too bulky and too heavy.

Because its metal and not plastic like K800. Also bec. there's a hard disk running in it. What do you expect?

K800 has a metal front right? A real metal front, the N91 is not made of metal like on the N70 and N80 it a plastic/metal cover!

And my obvious question have you QVGA listened to music on a N91? Its has all the jacks the microdrive which is a pain, coz its so delicate in terms of how you manage the memory.

But all in all the sound quality is not good, on any Nokio its bad, the best i heard was when I hooked up the N95 to my Hifi at home.

Nokia is doing good considering they have no background in music, like what many have said earlier. But I still don't think we can compare Sony Ericsson to Nokia. XpressMusic to Walkman, honestly, Walkman will win big. All XpressMusic phones are ugly, cheap, plastic like quality (well I guess the rumored/coming 5300 black looks alright). Though Walkman have their black/silver/grey/white and orange theme, it doesn't feel cheap (unless your talking about the lowend ones). Now if you are comparing N series to Walkman, it's basically comparing a Banana to an Apple. N series phones are targetted to a complete different market. All N Series phones are high quality (or at least should be), so if I'm paying this price for a expensive phone, I should expect a fully packed phone. There is no such series in Sony Ericsson, most of their phones being in the mid to midhigh markets.

I would say Walkman would be the number one for a long time since they are targetting mid to midhigh market (which has been very sucessful to them) and making their phones have a design that is acceptable to most. With Walkman 3 coming up and Sony Ericsson ditching the FastPort, using Mini or Micro USB and 3.5mm headphones, it will allow them to take a step closer to perfection (this is in the future...)

I've read on a website where they did drop tests of N91 and iPOD to see whose hard disk fails first. It was pretty neck to neck. Anyways, its a really old phone and new phones (N81 and 82) are coming up which look fantastic.
And i've read about 10 reviews of N91, where everyone said how superb N91's sound is and its a benchmark for music phones for mobile-review which is one of the top review sites today.

I don't think Nokia would have put so much time and money marketing it if they didn't expect it to make an impact, really.

Its a shame really because its not as if they are incapable of making a good music centric phone. Look at Samsungs Upstage? That's very innovative IMO and certainly has the potential to make an impact.
