i just have it that windows media player sorts my music for me, to get track information updated if it hasn't done it already you just right click on the album and find album info. This will find all track names and album art etc.

If this has already been done you just drag the folder to your phone and it will display the album art. Alternatively if you want a picture to show up for that album put a picture in the folder and rename it folder.jpg and it should show up

@jack77777

Apologies My friend, whilst the method i described to you works perfectly with my W950i it is not the case with my P990i, for the p990i and presumably the w850i, for the p990i i had to rename the files (any name will do!) as the ones saved by wmp are system files which the phone wont recognise! so simply rename the file and save it as a jpeg and all should be fine!

to set wmp for automatic updates click on tools>>options>>Library and select
"retrieve additional information from the internet"

OK, here's the deal with WMP (10) and album art.

- Find the album covers you need anywhere on the Internet
- Copy / find the folder with the album you want to add album art to on the hard disk
- Copy the album cover picture into the album folder (so now you have the image file and the mp3s in the same location)
- Open Windows Media Player
- Click on the Library tab
- Click on File / Add to Library/ Add Folder
- Locate your folder
- All the songs on the album are added to the library
- Press Ctrl+A on the keybord to select all items (if you want the same album art to be shown for all items in the folder)
- Right-click on your selection and choose the Advanced Tag Editor option
- Click on the Pictures tab
- Add the image file you want
- Click on Apply /OK
- Copy the album folder with mp3s and album art on Memory Stick

Album art should be shown in Walkman, as this successfully updates the tags, specifying the path / linking the image(s) to the songs.

This method, already described in this thread, works for me. Hopefully, it will work for everyone else wishing to add album art.

I've tried one freeware and one shareware album art adding solution, and they basically apply the same method as WMP.

For what I described above you don't need to rename the songs or update the tags via the Internet. This is, essentially an offline path specifying process that can work with any mp3 files and images and does not require an Internet connection.

The only thing that I don't like is that album art can be added to mp3 files only. I wish it could work with other formats, AAC+ in particular.
