one other thing to test , you use limewire run any virus test or anti spy test recently ? do you get any pop ups or things? probably is isp or wiring but may as well start with things we can deal with straight away

im 100% sure its not virus's/spyware

it says :

'Our Records indicate that you have a product or service supplied to this line that is currently incompatible with broadband. You will need to have the product or service ceased before broadband could be provided. If you place an order before the incompatible product or service has been ceased then the order will be rejected.'

it use to say 1.5mbps.

How long has the problem been happening? Could it be that BT or another company (installing LLU) are messing about with your exchange?

If you're sure it's not the computer at fault then the next thing would be to ring the provider(s).

sorry forgot to mention that before my supplier is tiscali.

we have had quite a few problems. at some points we lost it altogether, then we got it back at 163kbps as they said that they had to put us on a different line while maintanence took place. Now weve got it back to 1.1 mbps but the speed isnt much different, we contacted tiscali 100's of times and got no where. they kept blaming it on one thing or another but both them and BT have said that it is an internal problem.

how long you been a customer with them? first port of call is definatly tiscali, if youve been with them more than 12 months you can threaten to leave if they dont take action.
i would nt go to bt as they can charge you if its a broadband query and you dont use them for broadband, so try to get tiscali to contact bt. i
you sound like your speeds up and down which could be as cyco suggests work going on in the exchange but still i d have a chat with tiscali

you could try this link just put you number in and it will bring up info about the local exchange isnt always up to date but may have some work info thats going on.
also you can see if it is your nearest exchange by clicking on the map

Yes, you've hit the common and eternal 'ISP blames BT blames you and vice-versa' connundrum!

Can you get NTL or Telewest? Ditch tiscali and BT and go with them. Sounds drastic, but given the amount of mucking about you've had It'd probably be for the best!
