Also, Moto only has 1 new model in the top twenty with the RAZR declining in sales week by week.

With already No 2 in the UK, it now has Nokia in its sights.

If it does manage to claim the No1 spot in 2007 it will be an amazing achievement. Its strategy of separating music and imaging seems to be paying off with it cornering the market for both in the UK - the W850i and W810i both doing well.

LGs K800 is the new RAZR - it being its best seller globally.

I shows that the a shiny phoone still sells better than an alround excellent phone...

@bart

I think we are only seeing the true fruits of this union.

Mobile blogging and TrackID are a brilliant examples of adding that little bit extra functionality to and Cyber-shot and making them more interesting.

2007 will undoubtedly see more features like this on new models.

Beats me how people can actually use Moto's UI. All their phones since the V70 have all sported this same shitty interface, and Moto lovers still continue to buy them phones

You could say the exact same thing about PeeCee's running WinDoze (vs. Mac OS X or Linux). Same bullshit since Windows 3.1, and computer shoppers still continue to buy them Yet, over 90% of the world's computers run WindBlows. Go figure.

Also, Moto enthusiasts love the UI because it's so easily hackable (e.g. SEEM edits) with simple PC tools, all of which are available for free.

windows is slowly losing ground in terms of marketshare.
apple has grown because of the ipods fans.
linux is slowly winning fans aswell.
but their will be a 4th OS that could beat apple's marketshare, but plans are still young, and alot of works needs to be done, no doubt by 2015 it will be the 2nd most used OS on computers and laptops.

but back to SE now

it seems as if the "typical japanese economy plans" also work in the mobile phone market...

I think you have to congratulate moto having a flattened v600 being around the top for two years! The RAZR came out when the k700i was SE's top candybar handset. In terms of sheer popularity, the RAZR (and its variants) is still top in my opinion. The fact that people in this post refer to the RAZR just confirms that.

I have the k800i but think my SLVR is far better as a phone (excluding mp3, camera etc). The UI may not be pretty but it is highly customisable both in terms of tweaking with a PC and in terms of shortcuts. If you knew none of the specs of the k800i and SLVR and saw them for the first time, I'd say most people would think the SLVR was the more expensive handset.

Some people have never understood how to use Motorolas easily (watch how people put it on silent by pressing the annoying side keys to bring the volume down). The other misconception is when people complain that they cant hold multiple numbers under one name which is wrong.

The KRZR is a blue-mirror version of the v3x.

Hi deluded ones,
SE may have taken this crown for the time being but with their usual lack of software effiency tied in with hardware incapability (oh, and lack of ANY design of note!), Moto and Nokia will surely prevail.
I was SE til the cows came home.....tell ya what! the cows came home with software and WSOD malfunctions on the W900, WSOD's repeatedly on several overated K800's.
SE are exactly where they deserve to be.....a mobile phone should surely be primarilily a PHONE that can be relied upon to make calls..SE fail in this which is why they are small time

I fail to see how SEs are failing at being phones. Motorola has slow and buggy menus which are difficult to update to the latest firmwares and Nokia have stopped making phones altogether; now they make 'multimedia computers'

I mean going back to the argument of a phone for talking and texting is ignorant. If that was the case, why would there be manufacturers putting extra features in phones? All they'd have to do is put two simple things in, but nowadays we CAN put decent cameras, mp3 players, web browsers, handheld computers in phones. If you really wanted a bug free phone that calls and texts well, you'd get a 3310. That's much better than a Moto for calling and texting.
