Nothings changed. Orange have always known about software faults with handset s and continued to sell them. The original spv is a prime example. But its the manufacturers fault for dodgy software and oranges for not testing the handsets thoroughly enough and rushing them into the market

Hi mkouk
Great advice from operator number 2 if only it was that simple as a Sony Ericsson service centre can still only give you the Orange approved firmware irrespective of what else is available so bit of a pointless suggestion really.

Actually that depends on the SE Centre. I flashed my orange p900 many times with generic FW at an authorised centre. the only drawback is that everytime u need an update you have to go to the se centre as SEUS will revert your phone back to the orange version

Hi mkouk
So did many of us debrand and have our P900/P910's re flashed either at SE or CPW service centres or for that matter various 3rd parties that were able to do it. But this I'm afraid is no longer the case unless of course some one knows different but to date i have heard of lots of people that would like to be able to but none that have been able on the newer phones much the same way as the newer phones can't be unlocked either by anyone other than the Networks in conjunction with SE.

someone will crack it/produde hardware to crack it and we'll all be able to do it in time. Where there's a will there's a way....

SE have told me that the P990i is not able to be unlocked like the P900/910, this is an entirely different kettle of fish. I asked their authorised repair centre and they told me they won't repair any phones that have been unlocked/debranded, even if you manage to get it done!
And with mine in for repair of a damaged LCD, they said if I refused the repair price, they would dispose of the phone for me in an environmentally friendly way. For nothing though. Yeah, this a £450 phone! Kind eh?
