I can tell you now that a/one successor to the M600i/P990i is shielded very well and I can't find any static whatsoever when listening to music, radio or watching videos!!! Just have patience for SE to announce it...

I think the noise stops whenever the mobile is actively transmitting/receiving something.
Another example of this is when switching between flight mode/normal mode. At that time the mobile is active since it will attach/detach to the network.
