After P800, P900, P910, it was clear that the P990i will be the follower (by 2005) However: waiting for more than a year, I decided this autumn to buy my very first Nokia (--> A E70!)
Now I meanwhile have a P990i too (my E70 is used with my private SIM).
Just to let everybody know: Until E70 Firmware 2.0618.07.10 it was also slow(er) and instable....so was it also with the P900 and P910 in my case. After around the "third" FW Update the phones got the speed and stability expected.
So I'm really looking forward for the R9xxxx Release (or even R10xxxx) Release for the P990i and will hope that the "reboots" will stop as well finally become the P-Series Phone, it should be....
If somebody is asking me: Which phone do you prefer rightnow:....hmm...have to admit, that S60 3rd Phones are a really great choice! With the E70 you really do not miss the Touchscreen (I even started to rarely use it on my P990!) A lot of things are much better (e.g. Chosing a recipient for an SMS is just to type in what you know, and the phone will show you a choice of possibilities - similar to Windows Mobile. I actually thought that The P990i would have it too, because also based on Symbian 9.1, but SMS are very impractical to adress - compared to the E70). The new UIQ3 GUI is after 2 months of using the P990i still not as intuitive as the GUI of a S60 is. There I was finding my way immediately. And I miss EDGE support on the P990i. UMTS is fine, but overall the E70 will always get "higher" connection speeds, thanks to the EDGE availability in Switzerland. On the other hand: I like the Businesscard Scanner on the P990i. It is a real killer app (for me) as well the "flash light" of the Cam on the P990 is definately useful and that the P990 is supporting A2DP Profile (Stereo Bluetooth).
So not yet decided. I could easily use the E70 as my "main" phone (for Business) but I also love the P990...and recently I saw the new HTC S620.....wow....would be worthwhile to do another trial with "Windows" .....
