http://www.contralogic.com/w810i/ has a sample without and one with a simulated distortion similar to that experienced on the earlier firmware. After the fix for this however, we now have the infamous hiss.

I did quite a bit of digging around at SE-NSE and couldn't find the acoustic driver or instructions on how to fix the w810 hiss. Help anyone?

I just bought a Cingular branded w810i and the hiss is bad! I'm going to return the phone and buy a dedicated MP3 player if I can't fix it. That will be a sad day, because I love the w810!

The hissing is very noticeable at a very low volume, but no so at high volume. Turn it down to check.

There is no fix for the hiss at the moment. And as SE denies that there is a hiss on w810, they will not fix the problem. So i would say that if music is important for you (it probably is as you chose a walkman phone), go for a replacement with another model. Or another manufacturer, whose handsets perform as advertised.
