@Dogmann- i don't think anyone here says or thinks it is a success. I don't see it as a flop either but have to acknowledge, however, that this has been a bad production by SE. This has been their most problematic phone and the fact that it is going down in value faster than anything is testament to that. SE HAS lost a sizeable percentage in the 'smartphone' market. I wanted it too but changed my mind after countless problems experienced by users.

The Pxxx series is a series, that progresses with steady and small improvements. Unfortunately it was released prematurely, do to the likely case that the bean counters had too much to say. Now instead of counting beans, they are counting returns and complains.
Working in Engineering and Quality I tell you nothing is leaving my shop that is not up to par.

@Resident . . . Am I understanding right? You work where ? One must finish school first, then go 'a few' years to university and if all goes well then hope to find a job in 'ingeniering and quality control' ;). In the begin I thought only the Nokia or S60 fans have something to say against the P990i. I am happy to see that 'sanity' eventualy come 'on top'. Marc you are spot on buddy. SE should recall all the P990i, apologise and relaunch the model in january with the much awaited fw (hopefuly free of bugs)

when releasing one of the poisonous little outbursts of which you seem so proud, please have the decency to spell words like 'engineering ' correctly

I wouldn't go as far as to say it was the biggest flop, but certainly for a

handset it has been rather dissapointing.
maybe in the new year

can release a upgraded P990 (possibly a P1000).
my views are the same...and talkin about the design P series has a theme of that design just like nokia in 9500/9300 and the all past models...look the same..thats just its a design theme based for this model to be the same...but with new features....its just like cars... ..audi is an example..

I think the topic's name should be fixed from 'one of the biggest' to 'the biggest'. The P990i certainly deserves that :(

omg stop picking on peoples spelling... how sad.......
and luke i have to agree the p990i was a flop.... after so much speculation and talk it was expensive and buggy... granted i didnt own one, im just going on what people here at esato has said... also its quite a big phone tbh.... id consider getting one when the price drops right down, but i wouldnt spend a lot on it...

I think it IS a success, lot's of people have brought one in it's niche market, they may have sold it after but SE still got the money for the sale. IMO I think it is a successful device too as it does everything I want with ease, others may disagree but I think my P990I is the best phone I've had yet!! Then again I don't hammer a phone to see if I can make it crash the minute I get it out the box like some do.
I would say it's different as to weather you get a network branded model or a sim free model because Orange with held the P990I for a while until they got the firmware working better, or a newer one was released so it's customers like me had a more stable device, if you get a sim free one then your at the mercy of SE's updates.
And if your talking about it's size, it's actually smaller then or the same as the N93 CLOSED and is the same size as the TyTn but not many people seem to complain about the size of these devices. And why should SE release a totally new form factor when the current one has been a run away success for 3 phones already?? Would you change it to something totally different and have everyone moan saying they missed the old design as I'm sure they would, especially on here. At least they've brought a new range out to build on now with the M600I.
With the release of the latest firmware I can only see the P990I getting better and better.
