You can bet with my dissatisfaction that I have shared my views with at least 10 other people. Imagine if every person experiencing problems with the P990 shared thier dissatisfaction with 10 people. Pretty soon SE will be going out of business
That probably won't happen I'm afraid. Again, I have to point out that the P series caters to a considerably tight niche and competes against primarily PDAs. I'd imagine that the numbers would even out if every person happy with their Walkman or Cybershot phone raved about it to just one person each. There really isn't much incentive for SE to bend over backwards for us.

SE wont go out of business - most other machines incl P910 are very good, my wife loves here W800.
Its just this P990 that doesnt work out and my view is that its because of UIQ and lack of RAM - and its not likely to change as SE bought UIQ = there wont be any other mobile/pda manufactures using UIQ in the future.
Besides this I just think they put to little RAM in P990, no FM upgrades will fix that.
Sorry to say but Windows will dominate also here in the future which is a pitty as competition is good.
Waiting for my Samsung SGH-i600.......SGH-i320 is giving me all this aha-experiances I was expecting from P990.

am afraid you are wrong...i advise you to read All About Symbian editors predictions for 2007...at least two known brands besides SE have plans for UIQ 3 devices

SE just bought UIQ - a couple of months ago or so
Obviously any manufacture of mobile phones would avoid supporting a competitor - business is business
AND obviously UIQ 3.0 is not a very good software

what is obvious is that you insist ignoring what i just said...all about symbian editor wrote the article last week, way after SE bought UIQ. You also seem to ignore that despite s60 being nokias it is being used buy others, and that is what will happen to UIQ. I respect your dislike about UIQ, but that is what i and many others feel about windows mobile

@ares
In my view its just a matter of time before Nokia drop s60, could be a year, could be 2, why would the archrival use products of SE?
I dont dislike UIQ, I just think its not working, make it work and I'm happy, I really dont care what software is in my machine! I think its good with competition and not another area of Windows dominans, fix UIQ and will happily use it.
Then we have the RAM issue with P990.......cannot be fixed with any FM, its a hardware problem.
What exactly are the problems with WM5, there havent been one problem so far (3 weeks now with my Samsung SGH-i320) , no bugs or hangups, emails comes and goes, calls without interuption (because an email comes in - P990) and a 3rd in size.
I'm still fiddling with my P990 on my twincard as TomTom works great and I need that from time to time, until I get it up and running in my Samsung.

bjorne, the latest fw made wonders...i have friends that had their p990s for sale, and changed their minds now...and it was all done by software. Of course 2nd generation uiq 3 devices will be better, but current phones have much to give even with their limited ram, its a matter of optimization
About wm5, you just have to go to a wm forum and read the users opinions to see how perfect it is...please give me a breack. I even would unserstand if you change from p990 to some new HTC, but that samsung...well, you should now

the issue here is not whether WM is better than uiq3. we could argue till we go blue in the face. there are good and bad things about both.
the real issue here is whether the folks at se are decent enough to acknowledge the FACT that they messed up and offer its long suffering p990i customers a solution. the next gen device in exchange for our p990i's would go a long way towards fixing the lack or confidence and trust i now have because of this fiasco.
of course this is only wishful thinking but wouldnt this show that SE really does value its customers?
