thats true, even a tiny dust can cause trubles . wish se would protect better the joy in every single models, not only in some chosen ones like w810

@tranced

already done that, but i've tried in the service menu (hidden) to test the joystick by toggling it down, but in the screen, it shows that i've toggled it down-left. even in the media player, while playing aq clip, i tried to browse through the playlist, and occationally switching to the next clip. maybe it's loose or somethin'

For joystick fans, it would've been great if SE made it like the one in the Nokia 6600... I've seen many a battered old 6600 where the joy's as good as day one!

Personally I'm very thankful for the SE d-pad models.

The joystick went wrong on my T610, it was a sad day Pressing down or right doesn't do anything, whereas up and left are okay. I've dismantled it and cannot see any reason for it.

I do still have a T630 which is going strong. I still prefer the 610 though.

My only worry now is the d pad cracking on my 850. I've seen quite a few people complaining about that.

In work on the very rare ocassions that we get SE handsets in for repair under warranty, 9 times out of 10 its for joystick problems

My T616 became a bugger after a year or 2. the Joystick would have to be pressed really hard, then it would work fine. I pulled it apart a few times, and tried to dust it, wish i had known about the electrical contact cleaner back then (we use it to clean air bag connectors in some ford's)

when i got my k800 i noticed the large gaping hole where the joystcik is that alows dust right into the phone!! there is a lot of dust in there, and my GF is hard on the stick when playing solitare, she bangs it around, i wish she would use her own phone, or the number pad! What can i say, i guess she just prefers the to her Nokia (with the worst color screen quality, and user interface ever!)
