I never had a /// phone but I've always thought of that. the volume keys could've been used for scrolling.

That was great option in /// and early SE models to choose beetwen joystick and volume slider/buttons for moving in menus. It worked same as up and down on joystick.

wow the first post was surely long.. long for someone who don't really think that much for the phone... if you don't like it then don't buy one.. i'm sure every phone has a "bad" point.

i don't think it is a bad thing at all. in fact, i think it is much better this way on the K800i compared to the K750i.
with the K800i, there is no dumb sending progress animation while you are sending the SMS like on the K750i.
there is an icon that appears on the top left of the K800i screen that shows the message is being sent, ALLOWING you to do other things with your phone while the message is being sent.
once the message is sent, the icon disappears, which indirectly tells you the message has been sent, similar to the 'tick animation' on the K750i.
simple.
