Looks like they have clearance of the W880i as well.

regarding these clearances, like other similar sites, they are merely returned, reconditions models. e2save faq says

Reconditioned or Clearance Products

These items are either ex-demonstration, trial or mail order returned.
These are not flawed products although they may carry very minor cosmetic marks.

Each one has been quality inspected by our engineers, reconditioned if necessary and each one comes with a full years warranty.

Please note that reconditioned handsets are usually repackaged once tested and do not come in the original box.

These products are only packaged with a manual and charger, other accessories are not guaranteed.

@jayce

I think you hit the nail on the head.
The P990 was nowhere near leading edge when it eventually arrived and it would be hardly surprising if it disappeared soon.

are probably looking forward to putting it out of its misery considering the endless criticism here over it's software.

I realise the M600 has no camera or radio, but wouldn't it suffice as a Symbian OS / UIQ3 flagship until have the next model ready? It's hardly an underspecced phone, well except for no WLAN, but the lesser price reflects that.

I haven't heard as much criticism of the M600 software implementation.

Personally I think have painted themselves into a corner with the P990 and the next model will probably be very different - the model the P990 should have been.

only haters still complaining!what is everyone talking bout p990 being discontinued because it's a failure?i mean everyone who has bought one lately is happy with it and says it runs smoothly!and really speaking what can they put so special in a new p that would make p990 obsolete?IMHO opinion p990 will be seen as top class model for at least another year....unless do something amazing which is hard to imagine as GPS is not so amazing just handy once in a year to the average user.

Hi CarKitter,

Thanks for the vote of confidence
I don't have any insider information, I'm just a keen observer and owner of a few (Sony) Ericsson phones over the years ( T68i), P900i and now V630i.

I've also been in the IT business a number of years and you just know vendors will happily end of life a product whenever it suits them.

Looking at the history of these smartphones, the P800 was a concept device so while it was powerful, it clearly lacked mass appeal.
The P900 was much more polished and a better device with wider appeal, so it sold very well.
When launched the P910 this was the pinnacle of achievement for their smartphone - more memory, memory stick pro duo support, slightly faster, etc, etc...

What we currently have is the M600, W950 and P990 which share common elements:
o) 60Mb memory
o) First generation of Symbian 9.1 and UIQ3
o) Incompatible with Symbian 7 and UIQ2 apps

While I was hoping that would have evolved the design, it's almost back to the P800 days, starting from scratch.
I know a lot of people have bought the M600 and P990 and are happy with their phone, but there are also a lot of people who are dis-satisfied.

Whatever our feelings I know we all want to succeed and produce a great successor to these phones, whether this happens in a few weeks or at the end of the year, only time will tell.

Meanwhile I'll keep reading the forums and looking for firm evidence of something new on the horizon

P990 and M600 are discontinued. For W950 I heard nothing yet.

Highly unlikely! As masseur clarified, e2save's term 'clearance sale' just means selling second hand, refurbished phones. They also have clearance of the brand new W880i. Come on! Do you think SE would cancel a model shortly after announcing it?!

I'm (mostly) very happy with my 990 which I got last December. I do however think we need to be realistic and accept the fact that (in a corporate sense) this phone is nearing the end of its shelve life. 2005, the year it was first announced is an age in tech terms. Although I've become very fond of the look of it, especially with the flip off, it would never win any design awards. I certainly plan to keep using it for at least another year as it does all I want it to do - though not always at the same time due to its skimpy memory!
