Last time I checked SE had around 7.5 and Samsung around 11.8% of the market share, which makes Samsung having around 1.5 times as big market share as SE, not 3 times.

While SEs market share and profit has increased for the last couple of years, Samsungs market share and profit has decreased.

All those figures are publically available on the net.

What does those figures tell you (who of those two makes phones pople want) ?



What's your point ? If the goal is to increase the market share and more importantly the profit, what difference does it make if Samsung has 70 models and SE 30 ? It has not helpt Samsung anyway, has it (see my reasoning above) ?



K750 was a highend phone when it came out, most of SEs latest models are low and midrange phones. Nokias and Samsungs low and mid range phones arn't that great either and are not supposed to be considering the price tag.

i wouldnt say that k750 was a high end fones, it remindede on the ericsson times, when i said wow, so many features in one fone. but then se launched k600, which was a big disapppointment for me, cos excpet to 3g, they gave us a very weak fone. so i am wondering, where se go wrong, that the 3g palette is really poor imo.

In Indonesia, by the end 2004 Nokia has had more than 80%, Samsung following with 9% only!

This year Nokia has almost 70% of market share. Following is SE with 18%, Samsung 8%, Motorola 7%, and the rest.

Still not anywhere close to Nokia.

But, there have been many mind sets changing of people of developed countries like Indonesia. 2 or 3 years ago, most of people here will think "NOKIA" everytime they planned to buy a cellphone. This time, many people will think likely "Nokia? Nuh... music is bad. Walkman is better." or "SE cam is better than Nokia.. I think I'll go with SE."


Nokia always takes advantage of developed countries like my country, when people are not smart enough to spend their money. The slogan of Nokia "Teknologi yang mengerti Anda" has been around many years. It means "Technology that understands you". For many years, Indonesian people just want something to be simple, like "I want the technology understands me. I don't want to learn anything else, or more." Now people are smarter. They want something new. They want to try something new. They want to buy something new. They want to be wiser in spending money. They know what they want.

Its easier to discuss if you could be a bit more specific. What exactly do you mean SE is missing in the 3G department that other manufacturers have ?

for a me a high end fonr is a smart fone. i miss mostly in 3g se fones edge support, which is a very important feature when it comes to no umts support in an area. i know its operator depending, if edge is given or not, but in the countries where i am the most, i do hated to have k600, k610 or k800 ate the moments, where no umts was offrered and i hade to "slow down" on gprs at browsing. so i took 6233 instead. imo k800 and k610 aswell , do had deserved edge.

Do you still get countries and cellphones which use GPRS? LoL I thought nowadays 3G and if not EDGE, is standard all over ! Ok ok my 7650 used gprs, but that was like 4, 5 years ago . The N95 has 3.5G already and yes my network does support it !

Operators here are not able to cope up with gprs, let alone 3G and edge...
