^ Yeah that's what I was thinking, he wants to serve his country rightly as he should be able to, and if putting him in the frontline will increase the danger for our other soldiers, let him serve somewhere safer a bit further back. It doesn't in any way make what he's doing less important or giving him special treatment in anyway, no more than it does the other men and women doing them kinds of jobs.

Maybe the Army general should consider this option.

On Topic: The Royals should have been sent to Iraq first before ordinary soldiers to set an example.

Every Mother who has lost a Son or Daughter in Iraq was her Prince or Princess....Harry should be given no special treatment in Iraq....he should be sent and thrown into combat just like any other soldier..If he dies then his father will know what it feels like to lose a son in a pointless war!

I agree with some of your points but there have already been thousands of deaths, which is just awful. If they sent him over then him just being there would put people under more risk than they already are and would cost even more lives.

Personally I don't think a nations royalty should serve in the armed forces anyway. They should have figure head positions at most. It doesn't do to have royalty in the forces when their loss could be poor for morale or dangerous to their unit, or attract undue attention to military operations.

Long gone are the days of Richard the Lion Heart etc. It's not about Harry at that level, it's about the Nation as a whole.

btw, I don't agree with Britain having forces in Iraq, I'm just talking about the general principle of any nations royalty being involved with their combat forces.

Yes I do, but if a Nation still maintains royalty, it needs to keep them out of combat. Don't try and read any pro-royalty or pro-iraq war into my statements. I'm talking about pragmatism not politics.

Personally I think the Royalty are little more than a circus and war of any kind is obsolete as a way to resolve National interests.

also, British dont belong in Iraq in the first place, not everywhere is like the subcontinent where they can go and rule for centuries.

Agree totally. I couldn't care less what happens to Harry (other than my general human compassion for all people).

But if you do have your troops in a war zone, even if they shouldn't be there (which they shouldn't), I still wouldn't want to see them exposed to more danger just because some plum in his mouth prince wants to play war games.

Bring them all home I say.
