> Your take on the new SE phones?

This is/was a glimpse of what SE is capable of. The processor chip is a let down and I have to agree with Dogmann on that one. I have a feeling that they've left out the major features (16m colour screen, Vga 30fps,etc) for the p990i's replacement.
Overall it's a step in the right direction when one considers Hsdpa and edge in one phone for SE.

Definatley its more than enough. As for the design i remember people moaned about the K750 and K800s design and they were still best seller. I expect the K850 to follow suit.
Its a fantastic phone that will surley do well. HSDPA and the accelerometer make it even better.

Dude what are you on? The only thing comparable to n95 and k850 is the cam. So long n95? Every thing else about it is better.
To be honest I think the w960 has stolen the show, its really the best of both worlds. Who needs 5mp in a phone any way?

All new nokias use 16 million colors. I know the quality of the screen is so much better than K800 (same goes for K800-K750, although both has the same 262K screen, the K800's screen is so much better).
You mention media player. Maybe the new music station will equalize?

QVGA, I think a dedicated 5mp cam will produce better pix and cost about £300 less then a phone. Not every one can affor the k850

The k850 is sexy too. something differnet in the menu, keypad and design. IMO, the best line up of phones ever released.

I've got a 3.2 megapixel camera which is probably sub-$100 now that takes better pics than any mobile phone ever has.

That blows any phone out of the water. In fact, the el-cheapo Kodaks probably have better image quality that the smeary pictures of camera phones. There's many, many things that are wrong with camera phone's photos, but I'm not going to go into detail.
Now it may sound like I'm bashing every camera phone in the world, but seriously, there's no comparison with real cameras at the moment. There's no point trying. But if we stay strictly within mobile phones, I'm guessing the K850 will be once again the top of the image quality arena - as is the ritual for SE.

K850 amazed me because of this:
-PSP style media player program(full of animations, like no other)
-automatic camera cover
-5Mp lens is somewhat large, with QVGA video @ 30Fps at last, W900 will finally retire
-HSDPA and EDGE in one
-Fast port allows HGE-100 to be utilized(now i would have a cybershot with GPS,walkman and phone capability)
-accelerometer feature(the autorotate picture feature)
-the new SE-only JSR-256 API(this API is not included in the MSA standards of JP-8 and it was made solely by SE so don't expect nokia to have that cool innovation) which allows tilt-based gaming too(like nintendo Wii)
-JP-8 Platform, more powerful imho
W910 impresses me due to it's:
-walkman 3.0 (the new GUI is just an icing, yet well find out more on it's new capabilities once it's in the market or reviewed
)
-Accelerometer function(probably SE's answer to iphones)
-JSR-256 API
-larger LCD screen(i don't bother about the 16M colors, a human eye could only discern 6-7M colors so this is just waste of battery)
-compatibility with HGE-100
-JP-8 platform
W960 is SE's very good job for it's
-8Gb memory(not a hard disk that is more prone to damage and corruption)
-UIQ walkman(excellently animated, new features and albumart can be zoomed while moving smoothly SE really kills iphone's media player i think)
-compatibility with HGE-100(which sends it to the thone of super high-end phones i.e N95)
-P1 features like Wifi, 128Mb RAM, 3mp camera + AF, 2 LED Flash and so on
-will totally succeed W900 except in video

Impressed by the K850i spec's but not its styling and that odd D-pad would definately put me off. W910i is nice but not as good looking as the gorgeous S500i and 'only' a 2.0 Mp camera - not enough of an upgrade from my V630i. T650i has good spec's but may not be coming to NZ
so it looks like W960i for me.
+ 3.2 Mp camera + 8 Gig
wow!!! I better start saving now.
is still the best and now I have to have 2 phones W960i and S500i
