Yes, the volume is quite acceptable and it also depend of the quality of mp3 itself. And built in media player is the best one. I have smart movie and it cant come close to the built in one. I use M3 or total video converter and the quality of movies on P990 2.8" screen is in both cases amazing.

Final decision is yours. As a disappointed owner of P990i - actually not related to bugware of the phone but due to attitude of SE - I don't recommend any of the SE phones.

I still like my P990i as I am not a heavy user, but I hate its slow response to do anything. As SE is abandoning this phone I am so angry that I has started a new thread to vote SE out of phone business! It is something like divorcing one's loving wife! This is life!

still considering a new phone that is not supported anymore by the company that acclaimed it to be the non-plus-ultra??

well, if even sony ericsson finally admitted that these phones and especially the P990i is the worst nightmare that came true, i cannot understand people who defend this behaviour.

anyway..the P1 is sort of a successor of the P, M and W series, ..have fun with that newer crappy thing.

The fact the phone is not supported anymore does not mean it is a decent device right now, and an excellent buy for its price

New P990 buyers should have nothing to say about SE, only early adopters, IMO

I am on my 5 day on a row without rebooting, memory is now stable on 11%, and so is the phone...i am only using SMAN always running to flush apps (not swiss manager)

the output through headphones is excellent, but you can't get the max with hpm-70 or any other SE headphones..

3.5 mm adaptor + Sennheiser CX-300 is the way to go...

It looks like you should buy K750. It doesnt have wifi, qwerty, 2.8" touch screen, usb mass storage, full html internet, office editing (landscape), etc, etc, but you will not care about memory management.

Thanks for the info, myth.71, I was thinking of getting a headphone adapter so that I could use my own 3.1mm head phones.

I think I might order a P990i from that EBay store tonight unless anything else comes out. I don't think I will go with the K750 because I value a qwerty keyboard.

Thanks for everyone's opinions! Seems like quite an affordable smartphone with half-decent features.

Well it's not a smartphone with half-decent features. It got pretty good features. But there is this issue with the F/W, you know that stopped making them for the P990.

is saying 2 things in their last statement about the P990.
A: Most of the bugs are worked out in the latest F/W. The phone is _stable_ now and the bugs left don't make the phone unusable.
B: The phones H/W is not made for UIQ3(insufficient RAM), and therefore it will run out of memory and crash(close programs or reboot) on heavy load.

"B" can not be fixed by a FW update, therefore feels no more updates are needed.

The P990 is pretty stable right now with the latest F/W but due to the H/W limitations you will face some problems with it and I think with the latest statement kinda admits it's failuer with the P990.
Having said that, it's still a OK phone.

So these were some minor stuff I felt u need to consider :]
